The cuisine of Brazil is an amalgam of tastes from all over the world; for example, Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, German, Arabic, African and Japanese influences can all be seen. Special to this country are dishes cooked with alligator meat. A tender meat that is reminiscent of veal, alligator is used in a dish called picadinho de jacaré. However, more traditional is the use of rice and beans, beef, fish and pork. To wash it down, Caipirinha is the national drink, filled with liquor distilled from sugar cane.
