My Greek Kitchen: Episode 1 - Cyprus
Tonia is on the island of Cyprus where many of her family still live. She visits a goat farm to help milk some lively goats and to see how the traditional Halloumi cheese is made. Tonia cooks a delicious dish of Ravioles with Halloumi. Cyprus is a popular holiday resort and Tonia remembers her happy childhood days there on the beach where a slice of fresh watermelon was an ideal way of cooling down! Now, she creates the delicious dessert Glyko Karpouzi using watermelon.

Tonia finds time to visit a village where lace-making is still a thriving craft and sees the Roman mosaics at Paphos.

Tonia is in Crete where she’s exploring the region and cooking Oregano Roast Chicken, one of her favourite dishes. She uses a delicious combination of oregano and cinnamon to bring out the full flavour of the dish. On the menu today too is Sarikopites – a dessert made with soft Cretan cheese. She also visits an olive farm to see one of Greek’s staples growing in the Cretan sun. As well as being vital for olive oil, olives are of course an essential addition to every Greek meal as an appetizer!
